Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - A four-run first inning, which included a three-run Riley Palmer home run, proved to be enough for Delmarva, who topped the BlueClaws 6-2 at FirstEnergy Park on Monday night.

Delmarva (25-25/57-61) took two of three from Lakewood in Salisbury over the weekend and they improved to 12-4 against the BlueClaws this year. Meanwhile, Lakewood falls to 28-22/61-57 on the season, though they remain six games out behind first place West Virginia, who lost at Lexington. Just 20 games remain in the 2015 season.

Delmarva opened the scoring on an RBI single in the first inning by Logan Uxa. Two batters later, Riley Palmer hit a three-run home run, his fourth of the season, into the shrubs in center to put the Shorebirds up 4-0.

Delmarva added to their lead with two runs in the second inning on an RBI triple by TJ Olesczuk and an RBI single by Cam Kneeland to open a 6-0 lead.

All six runs were charged to starter Ranfi Casimiro (7-7), who took the loss after allowing those six runs in three innings of work, his shortest outing of the year. Manny Martinez followed Casimiro and threw three scoreless and hitless innings of relief for the BlueClaws. Jason Zgardowski added two innings of scoreless relief as well.

Delmarva starter Dariel Delgado matched his longest outing of the year, going six scoreless innings to improve to 5-3 on the season.

Herlis Rodriguez singled in the third inning to extend his hitting streak to 18 games, just six off the BlueClaws franchise record of 24 set by Jiwan James in 2010.

Scott Kingery, Jiandido Tromp, and Joel Fisher all had two hits for the BlueClaws.

The series with Delmarva continues on Tuesday night. LHP Austin Davis (3-4) starts for Lakewood against RHP Josh Walker (7-3).
