THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia lost both halves of a doubleheader against Delmarva on Saturday, falling 6-4 and 14-5. The Shorebirds took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game one and built a 6-0 lead before the Power cracked the scoreboard. Mike Yastrzemski hit two home runs to lead the 'Birds before a four-run bottom of the seventh by West Virginia, paced by Kawika Emsley-Pai's first home run of the season. Cody Dickson took the loss and dropped to 2-8. In the nightcap, Delmarva scored eight runs on seven hits off starter Dovydas Neverauskas over the first two innings to distance themselves from the Power. Edwin Espinal had three hits and Reese McGuire hit his first professional home run, but it was not enough to overcome 14 runs on 16 hits by the Shorebirds.

NEW LOW: With two losses Saturday, West Virginia is guaranteed to finish with its lowest winning percentage in any half of any season since 2005. Prior to this half, the fewest wins that a Power team had recorded in any half was 23 during the opening half of the 2012 season. That club had a .329 winning percentage after 70 games.

UNLUCKY 13: West Virginia's losing skid is now at 13 games; the longest in franchise history dating back to the 2005 season. The South Atlantic League record for consecutive losses is 22, set in 1975 by a Pittsburgh Pirates-affiliate Charleston (SC) club.

FINE NINE: Harold Ramirez's hitting streak has reached nine consecutive games after reaching on one hit in each game Saturday. The outfielder's run is the third longest by a West Virginia player this season, trailing only All-Stars Reese McGuire (19) and Erich Weiss (11). Ramirez's current streak is his longest this year and the outfielder has reached safely with at least one base hit in 27 of his 35 games.

WAY BACK MACHINES: Reese McGuire's first professional home run on Saturday came in his 94th game within the Pirates organization. Kawika Emsley-Pai's home run was his first with West Virginia and occurred in his 125th game in a Power jersey. It was the second on Emsley-Pai's professional career with the other happening on June 30, 2012 for Bradenton against Palm Beach.

TWOFER: The Power were swept in a doubleheader for the first times this season and are now 4-6 on twinbill dates. Delmarva moved to 9-2 on doubleheader dates with their fourth sweep of the season.
