Abramson Named to SAL All-Star Game

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (June 15, 2014) - Right-handed pitcher Matt Abramson will represent the Kannapolis Intimidators on the South Atlantic League Northern Division All-Star Team for Tuesday's 55th annual S.A.L. All-Star Game at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory, N.C. Abramson was selected after the Intimidators' lone All-Star - RHP Jake Sanchez - was traded by the White Sox to the Athletics organization on Saturday.

Abramson, 24, is 0-2 with a 2.74 ERA (7 ER/23 IP) with five saves in six chances over 13 relief appearances with Kannapolis. The White Sox selected him in the 29th round of the June 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Tampa, where he was named First-Team All-Conference and went 7-1 with a 1.38 ERA to help the team win the Division II College World Series as a senior.

The Kannapolis Intimidators are in the 20th season of professional baseball in Kannapolis and the team's 14th as the Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. Since the team moved to Kannapolis in 1995, 77 players that have played in Kannapolis have gone on to the Major Leagues.
