THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia lost to Rome 13-2 on Friday night at State Mutual Stadium. The Braves used four different multi-run innings to take down the Power including a three-run first and a three-run fourth to make the score 6-1. A fielder's choice from Taylor Gushue made it a managable 6-2 game, but the Braves exploded with five runs in the sixth and added two in the seventh to put away the Power for good. West Virginia finished the game 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Alex McRae suffered the loss for West Virginia after he gave up six runs on nine hits over four innings while John Sever allowed seven runs over 2.1 innings in relief.

WHEN IN ROME...: The Power and Braves continue their only series of the year with game three tonight. Last year, the two clubs played 11 games with the Power winning the season series 7-4. The Power are 22-19 all-time against Atlanta's Class-A affiliate and haven't lost a season series to the Braves since 2009. Colten Brewer aims for his second win of the season after he put up a quality start with 11 strikeouts on Monday.

DESTINY IN OUR HANDS: West Virginia has 15 games remaining in the first half and are currently 2.5 games behind the Hickory Crawdads, who lost last night to Lakewood, for first place in the division. If West Virginia wins all of the remaining games this half they will guarantee a postseason berth for the first time since 2013. The Power and Crawdads will meet for a three-game series at Appalachian Power Park to conclude the first half.

SELFLESSNESS: Sacrifice bunts have been a key part of West Virginia's offense through the first 54 games of the season. The Power have laid down 40 total sacrifice bunts this season, the most in affiliated baseball. The 2015 Power are on pace to register 103 sacrifice bunts this year. Pablo Reyes leads the team with seven sacrifice bunts while Cole Tucker and Tito Polo each have six.

PRETEND IT NEVER HAPPENED: The 13 runs surrendered on Friday night to Rome were the most this season surrendered by the Power pitching. The last time West Virginia gave up at least 13 runs in a game came in the second game of a doubleheader against Delmarva on June 14 when the pitching staff surrendered 14 runs on 16 hits. The 18 hits surrendered by the staff yesterday was the most in a game this season.

...AND WE KNOW IT: West Virginia is 10-3-2 in series this season and can guarantee at least a split tonight with a win against Rome. The Power have not lost a series since dropping three-of-four at the beginning of May against Greensboro.

SU-CHY TO THE GAME: West Virginia right fielder Michael Suchy is currently riding a seven-game hit streak after a 1-for-3 performance last night. During his hit streak, Suchy is hitting .482 (13-for-27) and had five straight multi-hit games to start this streak. The streak is Suchy's longest of 2015 and also matched with the longest in his career.

POWER PROMO UPDATE- JUNE 13: The Power will be celebrating Chuck's Birthday with a headphone giveaway to the first 1,000 fans presented by 98.7 The Beat and Renaissance Dental. Additionally, the popular national act ZOOperstars will entertain the fans throughout the 7:05 p.m. game against Augusta.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia is 15-14 when playing on the road...Monday's two-hitter was the second time the Power pitchers have thrown a two-hitter this year (May 18 in Hickory)...Colten Brewer and John Sever's 18 combined strikeouts on Monday was the most in a nine-inning game in franchise history...West Virginia's team ERA bumped from 3.08 to 3.28 after surrendering 13 runs on Friday night.
