PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (August 10, 2015) - David Wright helped St. Lucie's offense but the Mets ultimately fell to the Fort Myers Miracle 8-4 on Monday at Tradition Field.

Batting third and serving as the DH in the first game of a rehab assignment, Wright went 1 for 3. He walked and scored a run in four plate appearances. His single in the third sent Jeff McNeil from first to third. McNeil was able to score on a double play to briefly tie the game 2-2.

Wright flew out to center field in his first at-bat. He singled in the third, walked on a 3-2 pitch and scored in the fifth and popped out to second in the seventh.

The Miracle were able to pull away by scoring seven of their eight runs with two outs. Most of the damage came against Miller Diaz, who only lasted 3.2 innings. Diaz hit a batter with the bases loaded to force in the tying run in the third. He then balked in a run to give the Miracle a 2-1 lead.

The Miracle scored three off of Diaz in the fourth, all with two outs, to go up 5-2.

The Mets battled back against Mat Batts in the fifth on an RBI ground out by Victor Cruzado and a two-out RBI single by Stefan Sabol to get within 5-4.

However, the Miracle won the battle of the bullpens. Jimmy Duff and David Roseboom gave up three runs for the Mets while Jake Reed and Nick Burdi combined to one-hit the Mets over the final four innings.

Burdi struck out three and retired six in a row to end the game.

Aderling Mejia went 3 for 4 with three RBI and a walk for the Miracle, who blasted out 14 hits.

Colton Plaia went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a walk for the Mets.

The Mets (58-55, 23-20) and Miracle (62-53, 24-21) continue their series on Tuesday at Tradition Field. Wright is expected to play the field. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
