Lakeland, FL - Lakeland Flying Tigers left-handed starter Kevin Ziomek was named Florida State League (FSL) Pitcher of the Week today. The FSL selection was for the period of August 3-9.
Ziomek started two games and did not allow a run. In 15 innings pitched he allowed only 5 hits and two walks and struck out 16 batters. Ziomek picked up his 6th win of the season in his August 4th start in Clearwater where he allowed only 2 base runners in 8 innings while striking out 11.
This is Ziomek's third professional season. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the second round of the June 2013 draft while attending Vanderbilt University where he was a third-team All-American selection by Baseball America.
