Wranglers\' Billy Johnson Honored

Las Vegas, NV – Las Vegas Wranglers' Vice President and COO Billy Johnson has been named by In Business Las Vegas as a member of Las Vegas' 40 Under 40. In Business Las Vegas recognizes 40 under 40 young business professionals who have propelled to the top of their industry in Southern Nevada.

This is the second 40 under 40 honor Johnson has received in his career. The Union Leader, New Hampshire's statewide newspaper, honored Johnson in 2001 as a charter member of New Hampshire's 40 under 40 list.

Within the professional sports industry, Johnson was named the 2000 Atlantic League Executive of the Year for his leadership of the Nashua (NH) Pride Professional Baseball Team that set a season attendance record and collected the first league championship in franchise history. Most recently, he was named as a runner-up for the 2004 ECHL Executive of the Year following a Las Vegas Wranglers' inaugural season that saw a return of professional hockey to Las Vegas, the second-highest attendance of west coast ECHL teams and eighth-best overall in the 28-team circuit.

Criterion for the Las Vegas award is based on the following: the nominee's impact and influence in the business community, professional leadership, business acumen, talents and skills, charitable and community contributions. Honorees must be under the age of 40 by Dec. 31, 2004.

Johnson is in his second season as Vice President of Las Vegas, having been named to the position on January 14th, 2003. Previously, Johnson served for five years as Vice President / General Manager of Nashua in baseball's Atlantic League. Johnson was an Assistant General Manager with Double-A Chattanooga from 1993-94 and an Assistant General Manager with Class-A Kinston from 1991-93.

Johnson began his career in professional baseball in 1984 as a mascot with Triple-A Louisville and became Director of Public / Media Relations for Louisville in 1989. Johnson received his degree in telecommunications and journalism from the University of Kentucky. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, He and his wife, Shawna, live in Las Vegas.

A presentation for honorees will be held on Wednesday, February 2 at BOA Steakhouse located in the Phase III Expansion at The Forum Shops at Caesars at 6 p.m.

The 40 young achievers, along with a list updating readers on past rising stars, will be profiled in the annual special section insert of the Feb. 4 issue of In Business Las Vegas. This is a group of burgeoning stars making significant achievements in the work force, and excelling in corporate America, according to an In Business Las Vegas press release. Nomination forms were available in previous editions of the publication.

The Wranglers will continue their seven-game home stand next Tuesday, February 8th, when Las Vegas hosts Long Beach at 7:05 pm. On February 11th, the defending Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads come to town for Mullet Wig Night. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will get a free Mullet Wig, compliments of Style America Salons. Saturday, February 12th, the first 2,000 fans of the day, including the first 200 fans at the Port Of Subs Pre-Game Party, receive a Wranglers Team Card set as Las Vegas hosts Idaho. After the game, fans are encouraged to attend the Chicago Brewing Company Post-Game Party located at 2201 S Fort Apache Road.

Tickets for all games are on sale now. Fans may purchase seats to all Wranglers home games at any of the following ticket locations; The Orleans Arena Box Office, Coast Casinos' showroom box offices at The Orleans, Gold Coast and Suncoast, or at the Boulevard, Galleria or Meadows Malls guest relations/ticket centers.
