Wranglers Shutout Grizzlies 1-0 - Las Vegas Wins First Road Game, Back To .500

West Valley, UT - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (6-6-2, 14 Points) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (6-7-0, 12 Points) 1-0 at the E-Center on Friday night. Defenseman Jason Dest scored his first professional regular season goal midway through the first period for the victory. The win ends the Wranglers six-game winless skid on the road (0-4-2) and gives the team the first road win of the year. Goalies John DeCaro and Kevin Lalande combined for 24 saves in the team's first shutout of the year. DeCaro started the game and was relieved by Lalande after an injury in the first period, who made 24 saves in his return from an injury. Las Vegas will play in Utah on Saturday night at 6:05 pm (PST).

The Wranglers took a 1-0 lead, breaking a scoreless tie at 14:42. Defenseman Jason Dest scored his first regular season goal with a slap shot from the point. Defenseman Gord Baldwin and forward Justin Taylor assisted on the goal. Dest fired a slapshot from the point that filtered through traffic and past Utah goalie Mike Mole.

Wranglers' goalie John DeCaro was replaced at the beginning of the second period by Kevin Lalande. DeCaro was injured near the end of the first period and was unable to continue. Neither team scored in the second period. Las Vegas was shorthanded six times in the middle frame.

In the third period, Las Vegas killed off three more Utah power play and outshot the Grizzlies 13-3 to secure the 1-0 win. Utah finished the game 0-12 on the power play.
