Jackals at Devils Tonight

Elmira, NY- The Elmira Jackals hit the road for two games this weekend starting tonight in Trenton. This will be the second visit to New Jersey, and the third match up of the season between the two clubs. Tomorrow night the Jackals will make their first visit to Reading to take on the Royals. Tomorrow night's match up marks the third of the season between the hated rivals.

Tonight Jackals at Trenton- 7:30 p.m.

The Match Up: The Jackals come into tonight's game with a 7-5-0-1 record with 15 points. The Jackals sit in 4th place in the North Division, 6th place in the American Conference and 11th overall in the ECHL. The Devils are off to a rough start at 3-9-0-1 with seven points. The Devils sit in 7th place in the North Division, 13th in the American Conference and 23rd overall in the ECHL.

Head To Head: The first two meetings of the season between these two clubs have been close contests. The Jackals won in Trenton on October 19th , 3-2. It took a shootout on November 1st to decide a winner. The Jackals had the upper hand 4-3. Overall the Jackals are 9-4-1-0 all time vs. the Devils and have faired well in Trenton with a 4-2-1-0 record.

Snipers: The Jackals will be missing their leading point getter Tyler Donati, who is still on loan to the Philadelphia Phantoms. Steve Yetman (8 G 6 A 14 PT) will be in the line up after his impressive weekend last weekend where he recorded his first career hat trick and penalty shot goal. The Devils are lead by Eric Castonguay who has five goals and nine assists for 14 points. Since being traded to Trenton, Brett Pilkington has netted a goal and added seven assists for eight points.

Keepers: Goaltending has not been an issue for the Jackals who have seen impressive numbers put up by Mitch O'Keefe and Michael Teslak. O'Keefe is 5-2 with a 3.01 goals against average and a .904 save percentage. Teslak is 1-2 with a 2.67 goals against and a .908 save percentage. Since the injury to Marty Broduer (NJ Devils NHL), Trenton has seen a few shake ups between the pipes. With Jeff Frazee loaned to Lowell, Jason Smith and Charlie Effinger have been the go to guys with a combined record of 1-9-0-1.
