Bakersfield, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers (16-15-3, 35 points) defeated the Bakersfield Condors (12-20-4, 28 points) 4-0 at Rabobank Arena on Wednesday night. Goalie John DeCaro made 37 saves for his first shutout of the season and improved to 10-4-0 on the year with the victory. Forward Hugo Carpentier scored twice as Las Vegas moved a game over .500. Forwards Peter Ferraro and Adam Miller also scored as Las Vegas improved to 6-9-2 on the road this year. Las Vegas will play in Stockton on Friday night at 7:30 PM.
The Wranglers grabbed the lead in the opening minute of play as Peter Ferraro gave Las Vegas the first goal of the night. Defenseman Jason Dest snapped a shot from the left point and Ferraro knocked home the rebound for his fifth goal of the season and third in as many nights. Prior to the end of the period, Las Vegas would double the lead with a breakaway goal by Adam Miller. Defenseman Bret Tyler feathered a pass to center-ice, springing Miller for a breakaway. Miller scored his eighth goal of the season with only 50-seconds remaining in the first period.
In the second period, the Wranglers extended their lead to 3-0 with a shorthanded goal by Hugo Carpentier at 7:12. Center Adam Miller set up the 2-on-1 breakaway with a cross-ice feed for Carpentier's third goal of the season.
In the third period, Las Vegas struck again with another early goal in a period. Hugo Carpentier launched a slap shot past Yutaka Fukufuji just 59-seconds into the third period for a 4-0 lead.
Las Vegas will play in Stockton on Friday night at 7:30 PM. The Wranglers will return home to host Victoria starting Friday, January 23rd at 7:30 PM. The Salmon Kings will stay in town for games on Saturday, January 24th at 7:30 PM and Sunday, January 25th at 2:05 PM. Blue Man Group will perform at the game on Saturday the 24th. Las Vegas will host "Prison Uniform Night" on Friday, January 30th against Bakersfield.
