Baker named American Conference All-Star Captain

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades are proud to announce today that team captain Kevin Baker has been named the team captain of the American Conference All-Star team for the 2009 ECHL All-Star Game presented by Guardian Wear™.

Baker currently ranks second in the ECHL with 51 points and 29 goals. His 14 power play goals currently rank first in the ECHL while his assist total of 22 is tied for 14th. It is the first time the 29-year-old will wear the captain's "C" although he was named an Alternate Captain in the 2007 ECHL All-Star Game.

Baker is the third Everblades player to wear a letter on his jersey in ECHL All-Star Game competition joining Ernie Hartlieb (Alternate Captain in 2006) and Matt Pagnutti (Alternate Captain in 2005).

Joining Baker as the American Conference Alternate Captains, are Barret Ehgoetz of the Cincinnati Cyclones and Travis Morin of the South Carolina Stingrays.

For the National Conference Matt Shasby of the Alaska Aces has been named the team captain and the Alternate Captains for the National Conference are Kenny MacAulay and Cory Urquhart of the Stockton Thunder.

The Everblades return to action tonight when they take on the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05 p.m. from the North Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, SC. The Everblades' next home game is on Friday, January 23 when they host the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena.
