Las Vegas, Nev-The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Alaska Aces Tuesday night at the Orleans Arena completing the sweep and increasing their lead in the Pacific division. Goaltender Joe Fallon earned his twelfth win of the season turning away all twenty Aces' shots .With the win Fallon records his second shutout of the season, his first at home, as he improves to 12-7-1. Greg Collins scored the first two goals of the game and he was awarded the second star of the night behind Joe Fallon. Aaron Power earned the third star of the night honor as he tallied his one-hundredth professional assist and one-hundred fiftieth professional point. Las Vegas went 1 for 4 on the power play while holding the Aces to 0 for 5 on their opportunities. Aces' goalie Adam Courchaine had another rough night in Las Vegas as he gave up yet another goal on the first shot of the game. Courchaine tallies the loss and falls to 5-5-1 on the season. The Aces head home on a five-game losing streak after being swept over the weekend to host Victoria. The Wranglers continue on a three-game win streak as they hold the first place spot in the Pacific division with 49 total points and an overall record of 23-10-3.
Captain Greg Collins got Las Vegas into the game early with the first two tallies of the contest. At 1:09 of the first period Collins tallied his tenth goal of the season unassisted to give Las Vegas an early lead. Collins' power play goal at 10:45 of the first period assisted by Barry Goers and Blair Riley put Las Vegas up by two goals early. After one period the Wranglers were in the driver's seat up by two, but both teams had tallied six shots on net.
The second period saw one goal from Wrangler Jonathan Milhouse at 7:39 assisted by Aaron Power and Chris Higgins. After two periods the Wranglers were on top 3-0.
The Wranglers tallied the lone goal in the third period as well. Blake Gallagher found an open net at 5:56 of the third period after Courchaine failed on a clearing attempt with the assists going to Justin Bernhardt and Colin Long. That final tally sealed the victory for Las Vegas 4-0 as they finished the sweep of the Aces.
The Wranglers get ready for another three-game set this upcoming weekend as they host the Bakersfield Condors. Friday is Rakeman Plumbing Plunger Giveaway night and do not forget that after Sunday's game fans can skate with the Wranglers.
The Las Vegas Wranglersé are the ECHL affiliate to the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes and the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage.
