
Salmon Kings' Turek Named to All-Star Team

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that defenseman Ryan Turek has been named to the ECHL All-Star team in place of former Salmon Kings' defenseman PJ Atherton who left the team to play in Sweden.
The Southfield, MI native will make his first ECHL All-Star Classic appearance at the league's annual event next Wednesday, January 26th in Bakersfield, CA. Turek currently leads all Victoria defenders with 18 points (5g-13a) in 33 games played and has also accumulated 39 minutes in penalties.
Turek, 23, has dressed in 123 career professional contests between the Salmon Kings and Alaska Aces, where he has totaled 10 goals and 21 assists for 31 points while tallying 144 penalty minutes. Turek is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he won the NCAA Championship with the Spartans during the 2006-07 campaign.
The 5-11, 185 lb defenseman was a fourth round draft pick (#94 overall) of the St. Louis Blues in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Victoria ends their five-game road trip with two contests in Anchorage against the Alaska Aces on Friday, January 21st and Saturday, January 22nd. Puck drop for both games is at 8:15 p.m. PST.
