
Wranglers Nipped By Steelheads 4-3

Las Vegas, NV â The Las Vegas Wranglers fell to the Idaho Steelheads 4-3 Friday night in front of 5,644 fans at the Orleans Arena. Defenseman Jonathan Zion scored twice to lead the Steelheads over the Wranglers. Defensemen Christian Chartier and Jason McBain, and forward Dan Tudin each scored in the Las Vegas defeat. Idaho goalie Frank Doyle made 24 saves in the win. The Wranglers continue their home-stand as they host the Steelheads again on Saturday night at 7:05 pm.
In the first period, Tudin scored just 5:58 into the game for the 1-0 Wranglers lead. Idaho stormed back with three power-play goals in a three minute span. First, Zion tied the game at one scoring at 15:12. One minute later forward Frank Lukes notched his 10th goal of the season to give Idaho a 2-1 lead. One minute later the Steelheads scored again when Zion netted his second of the night for the 3-1 Steelheads lead.
After a scoreless second period, Las Vegas defenseman Jason McBain scored off a slapshot from the right point to trim the Idaho lead to 3-2. Less than three minutes later, Steelheads' defenseman Dan Vandermeer scored at 5:56 to extend the Idaho lead to 4-2. Moments later the Wranglers countered back at 7:12 when Christian Chartier scored on the power play to make it a 4-3 game.
The Wranglers will continue their seven-game home stand on Saturday, February 12th, the defending Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads will play the Wranglers in a rematch of tonight's game. Saturday the first 2,000 fans of the day, including the first 200 fans at the Port Of Subs Pre-Game Party, receive a Wranglers Team Card set as Las Vegas hosts Idaho. After the game, fans are encouraged to attend the Chicago Brewing Company Post-Game Party located at 2201 S Fort Apache Road.
