Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release

Atlantic City, NJ – Larry Courville netted a pair of power play goals in the third period including both the equalizer and game-winning goal to lead the Reading Royals to a 4-2 victory over the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies before 2178 at Historic Boardwalk Hall in ECHL action Saturday.

Reading (25-14-3) opened the scoring with a power play tally at the end of the first period. Adam Borzecki's shot from the point sifted its way past a screened Bullies goaltender Trevor Koenig and into the back of the net at 18:28 to give the Royals a 1-0 lead.

The Bullies countered with a pair of power play goals in the second period to claim the lead. On a two-man advantage situation, Colin Shields found Jason Notermann in the slot, and Notermann ripped a shot over the left shoulder of Reading goaltender Barry Brust at 10:29 to tie the game at 1-1. Shields gave the Bullies a 2-1 lead, their first lead of the game, when he tipped Fraser Clair's shot from the right point past Brust at 13:28 on the power play to send Atlantic City into the second intermission ahead.

However Reading, who started the third period on a power play, netted the equalizer as Courville re-directed Tom Galvin's point shot past Koenig 41 seconds into the period to tie the game at 2-2. The Royals would regain the lead at 7:22 on another power play goal when Preston Mizzi fed the puck across to the right-wing circle to an open Courville, and Courville banged a slap shot into the net past an out-of-position Koenig for a 3-2 advantage. Cail MacLean sealed the win for Reading with an empty-net goal at 19:54 of the period.

Reading out-shot Atlantic City 38-31. Koenig stopped 34 shots in falling to 13-9-2 on the season. The Bullies went 2-8 on the power play, while allowing three power play goals on nine chances to Reading, matching a season-worst set back on January 23 at Peoria.
