Inferno Shut out Gators 2-0

Columbia, SC-The Louisiana IceGators could not find a way to solve Mike Minard, as the All-Star goalie stopped all 25 Gators offerings on the way to 2-0 Inferno win.

After a scoreless first period, the Inferno broke through for two second period goals. At 8:54, Matt Ulwelling picked up a deflection on the near post and tapped it past Nathan Marsters for a 1-0 Inferno lead. Trevor Demmans, who took the original shot, got the assist on Ulwelling's 11th of the season. The veteran defenseman would make it 2-0 at 13:02, as Demmans snuck in from the left point and snapped a 25 foot one-timer into the net for his 2nd of the year,Tim Smith and Walker McDonald assisting on the goal.

The 3rd period was scoreless as Minard improved his record at home to 11-0-3 and 16-3-3 overall in 2004-05. Nathan Marsters played his best game in a month for the Gators but could not out duel his All-Star teammate. With the loss, Louisiana's record is now 17-25-3, 37 points and 5th place in the South. The Gators were outshot by the Inferno 31-25. Power plays were 0-5 for the Gators and 0-3 for the Inferno. The Gators next game is another afternoon matinee as Louisiana travels to Greenville to take on the Grrrowl tomorrow at 2pm CST.
