FLORENCE, SC -- Newcomer Ben Knopp scored with 1:50 remaining in overtime to give the Pee Dee Pride a 1-0 win over the Charlotte Checkers in front of 3,643 fans on Saturday at the Florence Civic Center.

Great passing between Allan Sirois and Jan Vodrazka set up the game's lone tally. The puck settled on Knopp's stick in the slot, and he slid a shot past Charlotte goaltender for his first goal in a Pride sweater and his ninth of the season.

Guard and Pride netminder Sebastien Laplante dueled throughout the night, with Guard stopping 44 Pride shots and Laplante turning aside all 24 Checkers shots. The shutout was Laplante's fourth of the season, and the Pride's seventh as a team, tying the team record set in 1999-2000.

It was the Pride's first win since a 6-1 win over Louisiana on January 21.

The Pride wrap up their four-game homestand with a pair of games next week. Thursday, Pee Dee hosts the Mississippi Sea Wolves at 7:00 p.m. It's the second season-ticket holder redemption night of the season. Pride season-ticket holders can redeem unused season tickets for free 200 or 400 level seats for Thursday's game. It's also another Thirsty Thursday, with all draft beer just $2. Friday, the Pride host the Columbia Inferno at 7:30.

Tickets for all remaining Pride home games are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or though TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com.
