
Wranglers Explode in Third to Top Reign, 5-1

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (16-14-4, 36 Points) defeated the Ontario Reign (14-18-5, 33 Points) 5-1 in front of 6,019 fans Saturday night at the Orleans Arena. Winger Ned Lukacevic tallied two goals and two assists as Las Vegas improves to 6-0-2 against Ontario this season. Wranglers goalie Michael Ouzas stopped 41 of 42 shots to improve to 13-11-3 this season. Las Vegas rookie Jeff Hazelwood added two goals and one assist, and forward Mick Lawrence added a goal and an assist in the win. Reign goalie Curtis Darling stopped 26 shots in the loss. Ontario Captain Jon Francisco tallied the lone Reign goal. The Wranglers will head to Victoria to take on the Salmon Kings on Tuesday, January 12th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre.
After a scoreless first period, the Wranglers broke the deadlock with a goal from rookie Jeff Hazelwood at 8:17. Wingers Ned Lukacevic and Shay Stephenson set up Hazelwood's third goal on the season for the 1-0 Las Vegas lead.
Just eight seconds into the third period, Lukacevic padded the Las Vegas lead with his 13th goal of the season for the 2-0 Wranglers lead. Lukacevic's goal ties a Wranglers franchise record for goals in five straight games, set by Dustin Johner in 2003-04. The Wranglers kept the pressure on with Hazelwood's second tally of the night at 2:19 of the third period to stretch the lead to 3-0. While shorthanded, Las Vegas increased to 4-0 with a shorthanded goal from forward Mick Lawrence at 3:47. Lukacevic added his second goal of the night at 10:09, stretching the Wranglers lead to 5-0. Ontario tallied their lone goal at 17:34, when Captain Jon Francisco slipped in his seventh goal of the season. Las Vegas is now unbeaten in regulation in their last ten games with the 5-1 win.
