Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Toledo, OH - The Las Vegas Wranglers (15-4-2, 32 points) beat the Toledo Storm (9-7-3, 21 points) 3-2 at the Toledo Sports Arena on Saturday night. Left wing Shawn Limpright scored the game-winning goal with 1:38 remaining in regulation for the victory. Center Chris Stanley and defenseman Tyler Sloan also scored, pacing the Wranglers to their fourth straight win. Goalie Marc Magliarditi improved to 10-4-1 on the season with 30 saves. Sunday at 5:00 pm EST (2:00 pm PST) the Wranglers will play in Wheeling against the Nailers.
After a scoreless first period, the Storm struck first at 5:46 marker of the second period when Gerry Burke scored his second goal in as many nights against Las Vegas for the 1-0 Toledo lead. Burke took the pass in the high-slot and snapped a wrist shot through traffic and into the back of the Las Vegas net for his fourth of the season. Las Vegas would take advantage of Toledo penalties and counter with two power-play goals in the period. The Wranglers tied the game at 7:09 when Chris Stanley scored his 10th goal of the season off of a rebound of a Charles Linglet shot. After tying the game at one, Las Vegas took the lead late in the period off the first goal of the season from defenseman Tyler Sloan. With the puck loose in the Toledo slot, Sloan tipped the puck past Bryan Worosz at 18:39 for the 2-1 Las Vegas lead.
Toledo tied the game at two in the third period when Mark Turner poked in a wrap-around at 11:20. Las Vegas caught a break with 1:38 left in the game as Toledo turned the puck over in their zone. Shawn Limpright picked up the loose puck and walked in all alone on goaltender Bryan Worosz, scoring his second of the season on the backhander and giving the Wranglers the 3-2 win.
On December 22nd, 2003 the Las Vegas Wranglers made professional hockey history when they hosted the first Midnight Hockey game. This year the Wranglers will host the third annual Midnight Holiday Roundup on Monday, December 19th at 11:59 pm against the Long Beach Ice Dogs.
