Dayton Bombers News Release

Johnstown, PA - The Dayton Bombers were blanked by the Johnstown Chiefs 4-0 in front of 2,084 at the Cambria County War Memorial Auditorium Saturday night. Johnstown goaltender Jonathan Boutin recorded 31 saves and his first professional shutout.

The Chiefs opened the scoring when Justin Kelly notched his team-leading 10th goal of the season, on the powerplay, at 7:11 of the first period. Following the goal, fans tossed stuffed animals onto the ice as part of the annual Teddy Bear Toss in Johnstown.

Just 48 seconds into the second period, Joe Tallari gave Johnstown a 2-0 lead as he walked out of the corner and beat Bombers goaltender Mike Brown with a backhander that fluttered into the net. Adam Henrich scored a powerplay goal that made it 3-0 at 5:20, and Brown was replaced by Sean Broderick after stopping 11 of 14 shots. The Chiefs took a 4-0 lead into the second intermission after a late goal from Brandon Elliott with just 35 seconds left in period two.

There was no scoring in the third period, and it was the first time Dayton had been shutout this season.

The Dayton Bombers, proud "AA" affiliate of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets, are celebrating their 15th Anniversary this season. The Bombers host a home-away-from-home game at Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio next Thursday when the Wheeling Nailers come to town at 7:30 PM.
