Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, Nev- The Las Vegas Wranglers fell Friday night in game three of the Western Conference quarter finals. Idaho leads the best-of-five series 2-1 forcing Las Vegas to win the next two games to advance. Left winger Blair Riley tallied the lone goal for the Wranglers who have dropped back-to-back games to the Steelheads. Tyler Ludwig, Tyson Hobbins, and Evan Barlow scored the three goals for Idaho. Jerry Kuhn turned away 27of 28 in the win for the five seed. Michael Ouzas allowed two goals on 26 shots and was pulled late in the third period for the extra skater. Neither team converted on a combined five power play attempts. With the win Idaho has forced Las Vegas to win game four at Qwest Arena in order to extend the series back to home ice.
Blair Riley notched the first goal of game three and his second of the postseason at 2:25 of the first period assisted by Blake Gallagher and it looked like Vegas was off to a good start, but that would be the first and last goal for the Wranglers. Tyler Ludwig tied the game at 5:36 of the first period assisted by Dustin Friesen and Mark Derlago, and after one period the game was tied, again.
Neither team converted in the second period as the shot count favored Las Vegas 20-19.
Tyson Hobbins took the lead for Idaho at 7:27 of the third period assisted by Mark Derlago and Matt Case. Idaho added the empty-net insurance goal at 19:03 of the third period with Evan Barlow's first goal of the post season assisted by Geoff Irwin giving Idaho the 3-1 win in game three of the Western Conference quarterfinals.
The Wranglers must win game four tomorrow night at Qwest Arena to force game five and extend their season back to Las Vegas. The puck drops tomorrow night at 6:10PM PST.
The Las Vegas Wranglers® are the ECHL affiliate to the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes and the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage.
