Tonight's match up:
The Condors and Salmon Kings meet up for Game 3 of their best-of-five Western Conference Quarterfinals match up. The Condors claimed a 6-3 victory in Game 2 Tuesday night after falling 3-1 in Game 1 on Monday. This is the third time in the last four seasons that Bakersfield and Victoria have faced off in the opening round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, with each team winning one previous series. The Condors were eliminated 4-games-to-2 in 2008, while they took a 3-games-to-2 triumph last season. Bakersfield had the edge during the regular season, going 4-3-0-0 in seven meetings, including 2-2 at home.
Condors misc:
Pascal Morency's hat trick in Game 2 at Victoria was the first playoff hat trick since, coincidentally, Game 2 in Victoria last season, when Kyle Calder scored three times to help the Condors even up the series at 1-1... The Condors are 5-0 when a player records a hat trick in the post-season... D Erik Burgdoerfer became just the second Condors rookie defensemen to score a playoff goal. The other was Jonas Lennartsson in 2003... Burgdoerfer is also the ECHL playoffs leader with a +4 rating... Bakersfield is 5-4 in ECHL play in Game 3's... LW Guillaume Lefebvre is tied for 2nd in the ECHL with four points (2g-2a) in the playoffs... The six goals scored by Bakersfield in Game 2 tied the team playoff record... G Brian Stewart set a Condors record in Game 1 with 23 first period saves, breaking the old mark of 20 (Y. Fukufuji, twice).
Remaining games in the series:
Game 4: Saturday, Apr. 9 vs. Victoria, 7 p.m.
Game 5: Monday, Apr. 11 vs. Victoria, 7 p.m. (if necessary)
*The winner of this series will advance to play the winner of the #3 Stockton vs. #6 Utah series (tied 1-1).
