Forwards Rob Slaney and Dale Mitchell Assigned to Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that forwards Rob Slaney and Dale Mitchell have been assigned to the Royals from the Marlies. The Royals also activated forward John Scrymgeour from the Playoff Roster Reserve and placed Slaney, Eric Castonguay and Rob Kwiet on the Playoff Roster Reserve.

Slaney, a second year pro from Upper Island Cove, New Foundland, was recalled to the Marlies on April 5. He registered an assist in Toronto's 3-2 loss to the Lake Erie Monsters on April 6. He played nine games this season with Toronto (0g-1a1pts, 2pims). In sixty-one regular season games with Reading, Slaney had twenty-four points (7g-17a) and thirty-four penalty minutes. This marks the third time that Mitchell, a first year pro from Etobicoke, Ontario, has been assigned to the Royals. Mitchell scored two goals and assisted on two others (four points) and registered fourteen penalty minutes in five regular season games with the Royals. Mitchell, a third round pick of the Maple Leafs in 2007, registered thirteen points (5g-8a) and twenty-nine penalty minutes in forty-nine games with the Marlies this year.

The Royals take on the Cincinnati Cyclones head to U.S. Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio, in Game Three of the best-of-five Eastern Conference Quarter-Final series tonight (Friday, April 8 @ 7:35 pm) at the Sovereign Center.
