Atlanta Gladiators News Release

Forward Matt Francis was called up to the Worcester Sharks of the AHL on Friday after wrapping up his 2010-11 season with Gwinnett.

Francis, 25, had five goals and 12 assists in 26 games in his second pro season. This is his first call-up to the AHL.

The Surrey, BC native missed 38 games this season with an injury, but scored a goal in his first game back on March 11th in Elmira and had four goals and eight assists in Gwinnett's last 12 games of the season.

Francis scored 19 goals and added 21 assists in 68 games for Gwinnett during his rookie season in 2009-10. This came after he split his collegiate career between St. Cloud State and Bemidji State University.

The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
