Elmira Jackals News Release

Greenville, S.C. - The Elmira Jackals were shut out for just the second time in Kelly Cup Playoff history on Friday night, dropping Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals to the Greenville Road Warriors, 2-0, at the BI-LO Center. The Jackals trail two games to one in the best-of-five series.

Sean Berkstresser started the scoring play that gave Greenville its game-winning goal just past the midway point of the first period. Marc-Olivier Vallerand took a feed from Berkstresser, fed Chris McKelvie on a two-on-one rush on the doorstep, and McKelvie sent in his first-career playoff goal to put Greenville up 1-0 at 10:28.

Late in the third period with Jackals goaltender Marco Cousineau pulled for an extra attacker, Sam Klassen shot the puck the length of the ice into the gaping net to give the Road Warriors a 2-0 lead.

Cousineau was valiant in the loss, turning aside 28 of 29 shots. In the shutout performance, Road Warriors netminder Chris Beckford-Tseu made 18 saves and earned his first victory of the postseason.

Elmira will attempt to tie the series up in Game 4 on Saturday night in Greenville. Tune into the action beginning at 7:05 p.m. on 99.5 WOKN FM in Elmira, 102.5 WOKN FM in Corning, 98.3 WVIN in Bath, or on JackalsHockey.com.
