
Wranglers Beat Up Gulls 5-2

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the San Diego Gulls 5-2 Tuesday night in front of 3,816 fans at the Orleans Arena. Wranglers' winger Steve Crampton tallied the second Wranglers Hat trick in as many home games to pace Las Vegas. Goalie Marc Magliarditi made 19 saves to pick up his 23rd win of the season. Forwards Darren Lynch and Marco Peluso each added goals as the team improved to 19-1-2 at home. Leading scorers Dan Tudin and Matt Dzieduszycki each dished out two assists. The Wranglers remain home to host the Fresno Falcons on Friday night at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena.
In the first period, it took Jesse Bennefield only 38 seconds to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead. Right wing Steve Crampton answered right back for Las Vegas to tie the game 1-1 at 5:16.
In the second period, Crampton got help from linemates Matt Dzieduszycki and Dan Tudin as he scored his second game of the night to give the Wranglers a 2-1 lead. Crampton finished off the hat-trick at 14:53 of the second period to push the Wranglers lead to 3-1. The hat trick was the team's third of the season. Winger Marco Peluso sprung free on a breakaway and beat Gulls' netminder Tom Lawson to give the Wranglers a 4-1 lead after two periods of play.
In the third period, Jason Reimers tallied for the Gulls to cut the Wranglers lead to 4-2. Left wing Darren Lynch capped off the night with and empty-net goal at 19:13 of the period for the final score of 5-2.
The third period took on a physical tone as Las Vegas forward Thomas Bellemare mixed it up twice, taking on San Diego's Rob Flynn and then Gulls' defenseman Doug MacIver. Then Wranglers forward Steve Crampton mixed it up with San Diego goalie Tom Lawson. At the same time Matt Dzieduszycki and San Diego's Jason Reimers duked it out. The two teams combined for 80 penalty minutes in the final period.
The Wranglers will hand out 2,000 "The Duke" dodgeballs on Friday, February 17th, when the Wranglers host Fresno at 7:05 pm. The Wranglers will round out next weekend by welcoming in the Utah Grizzlies at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena. Prior to the game from 4:30-6:30 fans may attend the Port of Subs Pre-Game Party in the concourse of the Orleans Arena.
