
Burke Signs P.T.O. With Peoria

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today that defenseman Gerry Burke has signed a player tryout agreement with the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League. In a separate move, the Storm signed defenseman Mat Ponto (PAHN-toh).
Gerry Burke, a 2006 ECHL All-Star, has appeared in 43 games with the Storm this season. Gerry has scored 6 goals (3 on the power play), added 15 assists, and has played at a plus 10 during his time with Toledo. Burke won the accuracy shooting competition at the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game. Gerry is the eleventh Storm player this season to go to the American Hockey League. The Riverman are home against San Antonio on Friday night before playing at Milwaukee on Saturday and home to the Admirals on Sunday. Mat Ponto comes to Toledo after playing 40 games with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League. In those contests, Mat netted 10 goals and 24 assists with 40 penalty minutes. Ponto played his college hockey at Western Michigan University.
The Toledo Storm returns to the Toledo Sports Arena on February 17th and
18th against the Wheeling Nailers. February 18th features an Alumni Game at
