Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - Snapping a five-game losing streak, the Las Vegas Wranglers won 2-1 over the Fort Wayne Komets tonight to even the three-game series.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net early in the game as Wranglers goalie Travis Fullerton and Komets goalie Andrey Makarov held both teams scoreless. With less than two minutes left in the first, Wranglers defenseman Jeff May tallied a power play goal to open up scoring and give Las Vegas the 1-0 lead.
Six minutes into the second, Komets right wing Brandon Marino evened the score 1-1. The tie game carried into the third as Fort Wayne outshot the home team 28-21 with overtime looming. At the 15:16 mark, Wranglers defenseman Greg Coburn sniped a shot from the point to best Makarov, and his goal became the game-winner as the team secured the 2-1 victory four minutes later. With the win, the Wranglers' five-game losing streak came to an end with Fullerton making a total of 36 saves.
The series wraps up tomorrow afternoon at 2:05 p.m. with a free post-game skate with the team. Active and retired military and their families can also get free admission to the afternoon contest as the Wranglers Military Appreciation Weekend comes to a close.
