Woollard Wins CHL Performance Of The Week

March 18, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release

Chad Woollard's Rocky Mountain high has earned him a league award.

The Central Hockey League today named Woollard's hat trick against the Rage on Mar. 8 the CHL's Performance of the Week for the week of Mar. 3.

Woollard scored a goal in each period and had an assist as the RiverKings beat the Rage 6-2 at the Broomfield Event Center that night. The win helped the RiverKings to a 3-0-1 road trip that kept them in the thick of the Northern Conference playoff race.

Woollard also had a three-goal game in Wichita against the Thunder on Nov. 23. On that night, he scored them in succession to record a natural hat trick. All three goals came in the second period. He has eight hat tricks in his career.

Woollard has played very well during his first season with the RiverKings. In 57 games, he has 35 goals and 27 assists for 62 points. His 258 shots on goal rank him eighth in the entire league. Before spending the previous two seasons with the United Hockey League's Quad City Mallards, Woollard set franchise records for the Fort Worth Brahmas with 290 games, 132 goals, 264 points, 1,029 shots, 15 game-winning goals, and five shorthanded goals.

Also this season, Woollard accumulated his 1,000th penalty minute in pro hockey on Jan. 12 against the Youngstown SteelHounds. Most recently, an assist on Ryan Held's game-tying goal with two minutes remaining in regulation on Sunday against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs gave Woollard his 500th pro hockey point. He reached that milestone through 253 goals and 247 assists in 532 total games.

Meanwhile, fans have another chance to nominate Woollard for the CHL's Performance of the Week. He and linemate Ryan Campbell each recorded five-point games on Friday in Tulsa against the Oilers in the RiverKings' 5-2 win. Neither one of them ever had that many points before in a regular season game. Fans can vote for Woollard and Campbell by heading to the CHL's home page at www.centralhockeyleague.com.

The RiverKings visit the Oklahoma City Blazers on Thursday before finishing the regular season against the Corpus Christi Rayz at home on Friday and Saturday. All games begin at 7:05 p.m.
