
CHL Announces 2007-08 All-Rookie Team

The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today the six member All-Rookie team for the 2007-08 season, selected through balloting of all 17 head coaches. Receiving recognition on the team are forward David Nimmo and defenseman Shaun Arvai of Amarillo, forward Mark Kolanos and defenseman David Schlemko of Arizona, forward Tyler Skworchinski of Texas and goaltender Alexandre Vincent of Odessa.
Nimmo is the league's leading scorer among first-year players with 81 points (40-41=81). The Southern Conference All-Star from the University of Huntsville-Alabama was named the Sher-Wood CHL Player of the Month for December when he scored 10 goals with 10 assists. Nimmo's teammate with the Gorillas and in college, Arvai, is second among rookie defensemen with 38 points (10-28=38). Like Nimmo, he was selected to participate in the 2008 CHL All-Star Game in Broomfield, Colorado.
Kolanos currently ranks third among rookies with 56 points (29-27=56) and is second with 29 goals. The Calgary native got off to a great start with 36 points in his first 29 games as a pro. His teammate, Schlemko, is currently up in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the San Antonio Rampage. In his 58 games with the Sundogs, the CHL All-Star, led all rookie defensemen with 39 points (10-29=39).
Skworchinski has been one of the biggest surprises in the CHL this season scoring 46 points (23-23=46) in 52 games with the Brahmas. He signed with Texas in mid-November and has improved throughout the season recording 30 points combined in February and March.
Vincent has been one of the top goalies in the league for most of the season. Through January, he was 12-4-4 with four shutouts. On the season, he ranks sixth in the league with a 2.66 GAA and third with a .923 save percentage. His overall record is 20-11-4 and he is one of the five finalists for the CHL Outstanding Goaltender award (winner will be announced on Friday, March 21st).

The All-CHL team will be announced later today (March 18th) with the remaining CHL Awards announced throughout the week. The CHL Most Valuable Player recipient will be announced Monday, March 24th.
