Woodfox to Defend Three Point Title at All-Star Weekend
February 16, 2011 - NBA G League (G League)
Texas Legends News Release
Frisco, TX (February 15, 2011) - The Texas Legends announced today that guard Booker Woodfox, who won the first-ever NBA D-League Showcase Three-Point Contest last month, will defend his title on Friday night at the NBA D-League Dream Factory in Los Angeles, California.
Woodfox will join Joe Alexander and Sean Williams (participating in the All-Star Game) in representing the Legends at All-Star Weekend.
In conjunction with NBA All-Star Weekend in LA, the D-League will host a bevy of their own All-Star events in the city as well.
Starting on Friday night fans will get a chance to see the best shooters and dunkers in the D-League at the Dream Factory. Along with the three-point shootout, there will also be a slam dunk competition at the event, which will take place at 10 p.m. CT on Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session inside the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Then, on Saturday afternoon the D-League will host their fifth annual All-Star Game, which will tip-off at 4 p.m. CT and air live on NBA TV also at Center Court of the Jam Session.
Andre Ingram of the Utah Flash, winner of last year's NBA D-League All Star Three-Point Contest, returns to take on Woodfox, Marcus Landry (Reno Bighorns) and Scottie Reynolds (Springfield Armor). The Three-Point Shooting Contest will be a two-round competition, featuring a moveable 'Money Rack' consisting of all 'Money' balls. From the field of four, the two players with the highest scores will move on to Round 2, and the player with the highest score in Round 2 is the champion.
Woodfox, a 6-1, 185-pound perimeter threat out of Creighton, won the Showcase Three-Point Competition with a final-round score of 32, edging Marcus Landry of the Reno Bighorns, who scored 20.
The guard began the contest with a round one high-score of 22 and advanced to the championship with a second round score of 36.
In the championship Landry dropped in a score of 20, which was not nearly enough to top the 32 that Woodfox drained to bring home the hardware.
Woodfox comes into the competition ranked 21st in the D-League in Three-Point Field Goal Percentage. He is shooting 39.7% from beyond the arc this season and his 50 three-pointers made is second the team behind Justin Dentmon (59).
The Three-Point Contest featured several innovations, including a moveable 'Money Rack' consisting of all 'Money' balls and increased points awarded for shots made from deeper shooting spots.
