The SeaWolves battled the Reading Phillies at fog on Friday night at Jerry Uht Park and prevailed with an 11-7 win in a shortened game. The win snaps the SeaWolves three-game losing skid.
Erie struck first in the top of the first inning against Reading starter Josh Zeid. Brandon Douglas singled to left with one out, stole second and came home to score on a two-out single from Bryan Pounds for a 1-0 lead. Michael Bertram followed with a double off the wall in left, plating Pounds for a 2-0 âWolves advantage.
The Phillies responded in the top of the second against Erie starter Mark Sorensen. Cody Overbeck led off with a single and moved to third on a Stephen Susdorf double. A Carlos Rivero walked loaded the bases for Derrick Mitchell who connected on a two-run double, tying the game at 2-2. Paco Figueroa followed with a two-run single and Freddy Galvis doubled for a 5-2 Phillies lead.
In the third, the R-Phils extended their lead to five. Overbeck singled for his second hit of the game and Susdorf homered to right for a 7-2 Reading edge.
The âWolves came right back in the bottom of the third. Rawley Bishop singeld with one out and moved to second on a passed ball. Zeid then hit Pounds and walked Bertram loaded the bases for Audy Ciriaco. Ciriaco hit into a fielder's choice, Bertram was retired at second and Erie got a run when Bishop scored to make it 7-3. Adam Calderone doubled home Pounds cutting the lead down to three at 7-4. A John Murrian walked loaded the bases for Justin Henry who came through with a two-out single up the middle plating two runs making it a 7-6 game in favor of Reading.

Sorensen (4-2) picked up his second straight win and third in the last four starts. He allowed seven runs on 10 hits in five innings of work with a walk and three strikeouts.
