Friday's game against San Antonio marks the 12th time in the Wolves 17-year history, and the sixth time in the last seven years, the team has opened the season on the road. The Wolves have posted an 8-4-2-2 mark in regular-season openers, which includes a 5-3-1-2 mark away from the Allstate Arena.
WOLVES HEADLINES
--- JASON KROG: Ranked first on the Wolves and second in the American Hockey League with 61 assists and paced the team and ranked seventh in the league with 75 points in 78 games last season ... Became the 79th player in AHL history to record 500 points ... Held fourth on the team with five goals and shared fourth with 11 points in 14 Calder Cup playoff games
--- DARREN HAYDAR: Notched 64 points (23G, 41A) in 66 AHL contests with the Lake Erie Monsters last season ... Captained the Wolves to the 2008 Calder Cup championship and ranks 10th on Chicago's all-time scoring register with 180 points (60G, 120A) in just 124 games with the club, spanning two seasons (2006-08) ... Won the AHL's MVP Award and scoring title after posting a career-best 122 points (41G, 81A) in 73 games with Chicago during the 2006-07 campaign
--- PETER MANNINO: Tied for third in the AHL with a .921 save percentage and ranked sixth in the league with a 2.34 goals-against average while accruing a 26-5-1 record in 38 appearances with the Wolves last year ... Shared 10th in the league with a career-high 26 wins, the sixth-highest single-season total in franchise history ... Recorded a 3.12 goals-against average and .889 save percentage in 12 playoff games (6-5) ... Matched a franchise record with two shutouts during the postseason
--- PAUL POSTMA: Ranked first among Wolves defensemen with 15 goals and ranked second among team blueliners with 29 points in 63 games during his rookie season last year ... Matched a franchise record for most goals by a rookie defenseman and finished third overall among league blueliners and second among rookie defenseman with 15 goals ... Dished out two assists in seven Calder Cup playoff matchups
--- ANDRE DEVEAUX: Led the Toronto Marlies (AHL) with a career-high 25 assists and 41 points in 72 outings last season ... Shared first on the Marlies with a career-most 16 goals and paced the team and ranked 10th in the league with 216 penalty minutes ... Won the 2008 Calder Cup championship with the Wolves and has appeared in 94 regular-season games with Chicago from 2006 to 2008, registering 15 assists, 26 points and 337 penalty minutes
WOLF TRACKS
--- Chicago won the West Division crown for the third time in club history and finished the regular season second in the Western Conference with 105 points (49-24-1-6); The 2009-10 squad was the seventh team in Wolves history to crack the 100-point mark
--- Chicago finished the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs with a 7-7 record in the franchise's 14th trip to the postseason in 16 years; before being eliminated by the Texas Stars in the West Division Finals, the Wolves played past the first round of the playoffs for the 12th time in 14 postseason appearances.
--- Head Coach DON LEVER returns for his second season behind the Wolves bench; the 57-year-old led the Chicago to a 48-19-1-6 record after taking over the team's coaching duties on Oct. 21, 2009.
--- The Wolves matched a franchise high 29 home wins last season (29-8-0-3);the team's 29 home victories and .762 winning percentage paced the Western Conference and ranked second overall in the league.
--- The Wolves were perfect on the penalty kill 40 times in 80 games last season (24-13-0-3); Chicago ranked seventh in the league with an 85.1 efficiency rating on the penalty kill (263 of 309), which was the fourth highest kill rate in franchise history; the Wolves 309 short-handed opportunities and 1112 penalty minutes were both franchise lows.
