
Wolves Unable to Complete Comeback, Fall to Vipers

Edinburg, Texas. - The Iowa Wolves (3-6) were defeated by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (6-3) 127-122 Saturday evening at the Bert Ogden Arena.
After trailing by as many as 17 points in the second half, the Wolves brought the game to within one point with 24.6 seconds remaining but were unable to score again in the team's last two possessions.
Three players for Iowa finished with 20-plus points, led by Darius Johnson-Odom's 25-point, eight-rebound performance.
Two-way guard C.J. Williams finished with a season-high 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting. The North Carolina State product knocked down a team-high four three-pointers.
As a team, the Wolves shot a season-high 55.2% from the field in the loss. Iowa has now shot over 50.0% from the field in each of its last two road games.
Two-way guard Jared Terrell poured in 22 points while shooting 8-of-16 from the field. Minnesota Timberwolves assignee Keita Bates-Diop added 18 points and seven rebounds in his second game in as many days with the Wolves.
Iowa bested Rio Grande Valley in points in the paint 70-60, although though they were outrebounded by a 29-40 margin.
Four of five starters finished with 20-plus points for Rio Grande Valley, who remain undefeated at home (4-0). Michael Frazier recorded a season-high 28 points and game-high six three-pointers for the Vipers.
Iowa returns to action next Saturday night to host the Northern Arizona Suns on Dec. 1 at Wells Fargo Arena at 7:00 p.m. CT.
