
Vipers Survive Late Run against Wolves, Pushing Winning Streak to Five at Home | November 24

EDINBURG, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (6-3) defeat Iowa Wolves (3-6), 127-122. Vipers continue their winning streak at home to five.
A high energy start to the game was capped off by a deep three pointer from Danuel House. His shot from beyond the arc closed the gap on a 30-28 Iowa lead as time ran out in the first period. At this point in the game Darius Johnson-Odom had claimed nine points for the Wolves, leading the offense.
The contest continued to be neck and neck at the halfway mark. Both teams traded blows as the second quarter came to an end, but the Vipers claimed a 61-58 lead heading into the break.
RGV kept a steady tempo on offense in the first half. Bruno Caboclo dropped 13 points and four rebounds. Brandon Sampson made his presence on the court known as well with 17 points of his own. The Iowa Wolves had Jared Terrell lighting up the stat sheets with 13 points, Johnson-Odom trailed closely behind with 11 points of his own and two assists.
Rio Grande Valley continued to control the lead in the third quarter. The Vipers were carried by Sampson's 25 points at the end of the third. House continued to help his team as well with 21 points and six assists.
The two big men were a force to be reckoned with the entire contest. Defensively for the Wolves Keita Bates-Diop grabbed six boards and tallied 12 points.
The final period of play between the Iowa Wolves and the RGV Vipers did not disappoint as it came down to the wire in the very late stages of the game. Michael Frazier hit both free throws to ice the Wolves and secure the victory for the Vipers. This victory made it five in a row at home for Rio Grande Valley. Iowa only managed the lead in the first quarter of play.
Michael Frazier had another big night, highlighted by a new career high 28 points. Frazier added five assists and seven boards to solidify his efforts on the court. Johnson-Odom ended the game on top for the Wolves with 25 points, three assists and eight rebounds.
