
'Wolves Strike out 16 in Losing Effort

Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves stuck out 16 Binghamton Mets on Monday night at Jerry Uht Park but fell short in the series opener 7-5 at Jerry Uht Park.
Binghamton struck first in the top of the second inning against Erie starter Casey Crosby when Brahiam Maldonado homered to left for a 1-0 lead.
The 'Wolves struck back in the bottom of the second against Mets starter Matt Harvey. With Bryan Pounds on third and Bryan Holaday on first, Michael Rocket sent a bouncer through the left side, plating Pounds, tying the game 1-1. With two outs, Brent Wyatt singled home Holaday for a 2-1 Erie lead.
Binghamton sturick back again in the top of the third. Niuman Romero and Matt den Dekker each singled and were doubled home by Jon Malo making it 3-2 Mets. Juan Lagares singled home Malo and Mike Fisher singled home Lagares for a 5-2 Binghamton advantage.
Erie got one back in the bottom of the third. Justin Henry singled with one out and moved to third on a Bryan Pounds base hit. Henry scored on a wild pitch making it a two-run game at 5-3.
The Mets added to their advantage in the top of the eighth against Erie reliever Ryan Robowski. Eric Campbell and Dusty Ryan each doubled to start the inning. Campbell scored to make it 6-3. Ryan eventually scored on an error giving the Mets their largest lead of the night at 7-3.
The 'Wolves responded in the bottom of the eighth against Brandon Moore. Rawley Bishop led off and connected on his team-leading 10th home run. Holaday followed with a solo blast, his seventh and third in the last week to make it 7-5. It was the first time this season that the SeaWolves hit back-to-back home runs. The 'Wolves would get no closer as Moore retired the final six hitters of the game preserving the B-Mets win.
Crosby (8-7) has dropped back-to-back starts. He allowed five runs on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 2.1 innings for his shortest outing of the season.
Luis Marte worked in relief of Crosby and tossed 3.2 innings of scoreless ball striking out 10 hitters.
The 'Wolves continue a four-game series with the Mets on Tuesday night at Jerry Uht Park.7:05 First Pitch. RHP Trevor Feeney (0-0, 5.40 ERA) takes the mound for the 'Wolves against LHP Robert Carson (4-11, 4.99 ERA).
