Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The R-Phils and Portland Sea Dogs split their doubleheader on Saturday, with Reading taking the first game by a score of 6-2, and Portland winning the second game by a score of 4-2.
With the split, and a New Britain win, the R-Phils were pushed out of second place in the Eastern Division. Reading now trails the Rock Cats by a half game in the standings.
New Britain is now the hottest team in the Eastern Division, as they currently have a three-game win-streak, after sweeping the Trenton Thunder in their rain-shortened three-game series.
New Hampshire continued their losing ways, as they were swept by Harrisburg in their four-game series. New Hampshire will now move on and travel to Trenton to take on the Thunder for four games.
All four Eastern Division playoff contenders did not play on Sunday due to Hurricane Irene.
Eligible Club The top two clubs in each Division shall be eligible to compete in the Eastern League playoffs. Playoff eligibility is determined by won loss record of each team.
