RICHMOND, VA - The Richmond Flying Squirrels, in conjunction with the Eastern League of Professional Baseball Clubs, have announced their 2012 regular season schedule. The Squirrels will open their 2012 campaign on the road against the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins) on Thursday April 5th, 2012. Opening Night at The Diamond will occur Thursday, April 12th, against the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates).

Season Tickets for the 2012 season are now available. Season tickets in the Diamond Club level at The Diamond for the entire 71-game home schedule will remain $568.00 ($8 per game). Once again in 2012, the Squirrels will build upon their rivalry with their closest geographical opponent, the Bowie Baysox (Baltimore Orioles). The Baysox will again be the Squirrels' most-played opponent, with the two clubs meeting 24 times during the 2012 season. The Squirrels will encounter the Curve 21 times, and the Reading Phillies (Philadelphia Phillies) and Harrisburg Senators (Washington Nationals) each 16 times.

The top prospects in the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox systems will each visit The Diamond during the 2012 season. The Trenton Thunder (Yankees) will travel to Richmond for a four-game series (June 25th-28th), while the Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox) will take on the Squirrels in a three-game set (June 15th-17th).

The Flying Squirrels open their final home stand of the 2011 regular season on Monday night at The Diamond. Richmond hosts the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins) in a four-game series, with games at 7:05 PM, Monday - Thursday. The Squirrels are currently in the playoff hunt, 1 1/2 games behind the Bowie Baysox for the wild-card spot in the Western Division. New Britain will also be fighting for their playoff lives, currently holding a half-game lead for the wild-card spot in the Eastern Division.
