New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats, their presenting sponsor - Stanley Black & Decker - and the Hilton Garden Inn in Ft. Myers, Florida announced today that they will be conducting an in-stadium contest over the upcoming Labor Day Weekend to select the Eastern League club's 2011 "Fans of the Year". This second annual fun competition will take place over the final five games of the Rock Cats' 2011 Regular Season - Friday, September 2nd to Monday, September 5th - and will simply require fans seeking to participate to submit photos of themselves enjoying any one of this year's final five games at New Britain Stadium.
Lucky winners will jet off next March to the Minnesota Twins' 2012 Spring Training site in Florida as guests of the Rock Cats, Stanley Black & Decker, and the Hilton Garden Inn in Ft. Myers. These three partners will not only underwrite the cost of airfare and hotel accommodations in the Sunshine State, but will also provide the fortunate fans with tickets to two Spring Training games that the Twins will play at Hammond Field on Florida's Gulf Coast!
Last year's winners - Maria and Stephen Wyszinski of Springfield, MA - had the times of their young lives basking in the Florida sun while comfortably visiting with familiar members of the Rock Cats, the Minnesota Twins' 17-year partners in the historic Eastern League.
The contest will work as follows: Fans wishing to participate must attend any one of the Rock Cats' five games over the 2011 Labor Day Weekend and electronically submit a photo of themselves at the game to fans@rockcats.com. Rock Cats staff will sort through the daily entries and post submissions from each of the four days on the club's Facebook Fan page. After all five Labor Day Weekend games have been completed, fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite entries on the Rock Cats Facebook page. The joint Rock Cats/Stanley Black & Decker review panel will initially reduce the competition to four finalists, before selecting this season's Grand Prize winners. The Rock Cats will notify the winners - the 2011 "Fans of the Year" - by the end of September!
As it happens, New Britain's Labor Day Weekend opponent will be Trenton - the New York Yankees' Eastern League partner - and both teams are currently battling for what looks to be a single 2011 postseason berth. The baseball competition should be intense - but, conversely, the "Fans of the Year" contest should be nothing but fun. Please join us for both!
Good seats remain available for each of the final four games of the 2011 Regular Season at New Britain Stadium. Fans wishing to purchase tickets may do so by visiting the New Britain Stadium Box Office between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday, or between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Saturdays. Tickets may also be secured by calling the Rock Cats Ticket Office (860) 224-8383 at the same hours listed above. Fans interested in the convenience of on-line purchasing are invited to visit the team's website - www.rockcats.com - and follow the brief, related instructions.
