Chicago Wolves News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- The Chicago Wolves completed a two-game sweep of the Charlotte Checkers with a 2-1 victory Saturday night at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

Defenseman Evan Oberg and right wing Mike Davies had the markers for Chicago, which scored two unanswered goals in the second period to overcome an early deficit. Goaltender Jake Allen (6-3-1) kicked out 27 shots for the win.

The Wolves (6-6-0-1) found themselves playing catch-up after Charlotte (5-6-0-1) tallied 8:53 into the game. With play in the Wolves zone, an angled shot bounced off Allen into a scrum in front of the net. Charlotte center Brendan Woods found the puck and roofed it over Allen's shoulder for the lead.

Oberg evened the score for Chicago early in the second period. With the Wolves cycling the puck, right wing Mark Mancari sent a pass from the wall to Oberg at the point. Oberg's shot beat Checkers goaltender John Muse on his glove side.

Chicago added the go-ahead goal at 17:23 of the second frame with Davies' power-play goal. Davies received the puck from the corner and one-timed it past Muse glove-side. Alexandre Bolduc and Ty Rattie picked up assists on the game-winner.

The final period was deadlocked as both goaltenders turning away double digits in shots. Muse (3-2-0) made 29 saves in the loss.

The Wolves travel to Iowa on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game as they continue their circus trip. The team returns to Allstate Arena on Saturday, Nov. 16, for a 7 p.m. matchup against division rival Grand Rapids. For tickets, call 1-800-THE-WOLVES or visit ChicagoWolves.com.
