Syracuse Crunch News Release

Syracuse, NY- Cedrick Desjardins and the Syracuse Crunch shut out the Admirals 4-0 at the Norfolk Scope tonight.

The Crunch completed a weekend sweep of the Admirals, improving their record to 9-3-1-0 and advancing to the top of the East Division with 19 points on the season.

Desjardins stopped all 19 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season. Vladislav Namestnikov scored twice while 10 other Crunch players found their way onto the score sheet tonight. The Syracuse penalty kill unit kept Norfolk's power play off the board on four attempts. The Crunch penalty kill has not allowed a power-play goal in the past four games.

Namestnikov gave the Crunch a 1-0 lead and extended his point streak to 12 games with a power-play goal 5:36 into the first period. Namestnikov lifted a rebound over Norfolk netminder John Gibson for his sixth goal of the season. JT Brown and Nikita Nesterov assisted on the goal.

The Crunch lit the lamp three times in less than three minutes during the middle stanza to take a 4-0 lead into the second intermission. Cedric Paquette redirected a JP Cote drive 10:25 into the period and less than a minute later Dana Tyrell crashed the net sliding a cross-crease pass into the net. Namestnikov scored his second goal of the night at the 12:48 mark with a blast from the left circle.

The Crunch did not score in the third but outshot the Admirals nine to three to secure the win.
