November 9, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
The Oklahoma City Barons dropped a 3-2 shootout decision to the San Antonio Rampage Saturday evening at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. Tyler Bunz made his first career AHL start and turned away 34 of the 36 shots he faced on the evening. Oklahoma City fell to 5-6-0-2, while the Rampage moved to 5-6-0-1.
Steve Pinizzotto gave the Rampage the early lead at the 7:36 mark of the first period. The Barons managed to tie the game later in the period as Denis Grebeshkov scored his first of the season at 9:25 as three Barons poked at the puck in front of Rampage goaltender Michael Houser. Kale Kessy and Brad Hunt earned the assists on Grebeshkov's power play goal. The Rampage held a slim 11-10 advantage in shots after the first.
Derek Nesbitt scored his fifth of the season 1:17 into the second to put Oklahoma City on top 2-1. Nesbitt's goal was assisted by C.J. Stretch and Corey Potter as the Barons took that lead into the locker room at the intermission. San Antonio led in shots 21-17 after two periods.
Vincent Trocheck evened the score at 2-2 at the 12:12 mark of the third period. The power play goal forced a scoreless overtime period which led to a shootout to decide the contest. San Antonio led in shots 37-23 for the game.
Ryan Hamilton scored Oklahoma City's only goal in the shootout. Jon Matsumoto and Jared Gomes got the puck past Bunz to secure the 3-2 win for the Rampage.
The two teams meet again Tuesday morning at 10:35 a.m. CT in Oklahoma City. The Barons host the team's annual Kids Education Day game.
