Chicago Wolves center JASON KROG has been named the winner of the Les Cunningham Award as the American Hockey League's most valuable player for the 2007-08 season. This marks the second consecutive year a member of the Wolves has earned the league's highest individual honor.

KROG leads the AHL with a career-high 68 assists and 104 points - 20 more than the next closest player - and shares second with a career-best 36 goals in 77 games this season. He joins linemate and 2007 MVP Darren Haydar as just the fourth player in franchise history to crack the 100-point mark, and just the second to earn the AHL MVP award.

"On behalf of the entire Chicago Wolves Hockey Club I would like to congratulate Jason on this honor and thank him for his enormous contribution towards the success of the Wolves in the 2007-08 regular season," said Wolves General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff. "While it is very easy to measure his on-ice success through the statistics that are on display for all to see, it is his dedication off the ice and his consistent professionalism that have made him a very special player and teammate."

The 32-year-old forward, who was named to the AHL's 2007-08 First All-Star team last week, has notched a point in 59 of his 77 outings with the Wolves this season, which includes 31 multiple-point performances and 11 with three or more. He has posted two or more goals in a game seven times, and matched team season-best three assists in a contest on six occasions. KROG, who was named to the Canadian All-Star Team for the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic, collected 31 points (9G, 22A) during a season-high 14-game point streak from Dec. 8 to Jan. 11, and earned AHL Player of the Week honors for the period ending Dec. 23, after posting eight points (2G, 6A) during a two-game span.

The Fernie, British Columbia, native already shares sixth on Chicago's all-time scoring list with 184 points in just 121 career games with the team. He also ranks sixth with 122 assists and 10th with 62 goals. KROG ranked fifth in the AHL with 54 assists and seventh with 80 points last season, despite appearing in just 44 of the team's 80 outings due to NHL recall.

Overall, he has tallied 354 points (124G, 230A) in 300 career AHL games and 58 points (21G, 37A) in 198 career National Hockey League games since turning pro in 1999.
