Peoria Rivermen News Release

The San Antonio Rampage scored five unanswered goals to erase a 2-0 deficit against the Peoria Rivermen on Friday night at Carver Arena in a 5-2 win.

San Antonio dominated the first 15 minutes of the opening frame, but then the Rivermen woke up and turned the tide of the period. Out-shot 9-2 to that point of the period, Nicholas Drazenovic's check on David Spina freed the puck to Joe Grimaldi, who fed Mike Glumac up the right wing. Glumac used his teammates as a screen on the rush and caught goaltender Al Montoya leaning to his right, firing a wrist shot that deflected in off the cuff of the catching glove for a 1-0 lead at 14:13.

After the goal, Peoria went on to out-shoot San Antonio 7-2 for the remainder of the frame and had two near-misses on tips in front of the Rampage goal.

Tyson Strachan extended the lead to 2-0 when he backhanded a rebound off Martin Kariya's initial shot attempt under Montoya at 6:21.

From there, San Antonio began its onslaught, starting with Chris Durno and his 23rd of the year at 13:57 of the second period to make it 2-1 at the break.

In the third period, the Rampage scored four more, starting with Matt Murley's even strength goal just after a power play chance expired 34 seconds into the frame. Jon DiSalvatore scored a power play goal at 5:54, followed by a Mike Zigomanis marker at 9:51 and Cam Paddock's empty net goal at 18:21 to seal the win.

Montoya finished the game with 29 saves while Hannu Toivonen made 30 stops in the loss.

The Rivermen wrap up the 2007-08 home portion of the season tomorrow night against the Iowa Stars at 7 pm on Ralph Rashid/UFS Downtown Outlet Center Fan Appreciation Night. Plus American Idols Gina Glocksen, Kimberly Caldwell, and Justin Guarini will be in town to sign autographs and perform a post-game concert to wrap up the year.

Tickets are on sale now through the Peoria Civic Center Box Office, at all TicketMaster locations, on line at www.TicketMaster.com, or charge by phone at (309) 676-8700.
