Chicago Wolves News Release
Chicago Wolves left wing NIGEL DAWES has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 9, 2011.
DAWES tallied five goals, six points and a +4 plus/minus rating in three games last week.
The 25-year-old forward helped the team to a 9-3 win over the Toronto Marlies at the Allstate Arena on Wednesday when he became just the third player in Wolves history, and first in their AHL tenure, to score four goals in a game. He also added the lone tally in Chicago's 4-1 loss to Hamilton on Saturday and collected and assist in the team's 4-3 shootout loss to Toronto on Sunday.
The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native has amassed eight goals and 14 points in his last 10 contests, which includes seven points (5G, 2A) during a current four-game point-streak. He paces the Wolves and ranks fourth in the American Hockey League with 19 goals and holds third on the club and is tied for 17th in the league with 32 points in 36 games this season. DAWES also skated in six National Hockey League outings with Atlanta earlier this year.
In recognition of his achievement, DAWES will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Wolves home game.
The Wolves continue a season-high seven-game homestand on Wednesday when they host the Texas Stars in their second annual "School Day" game at the Allstate Arena at 11 a.m. For more information, or tickets to Wolves home games, visit chicagowolves.com or call 1-800-THE-WOLVES.
