
Wolves Fall in OT

The Wolves hosted the reigning Memorial Cup champions, the Oshawa Generals Friday night, but fell in overtime by a score of 5-4. KYLE CAPOBIANCO and PAVEL JENYS both had a multi-point game, but the Wolves were unable to hold onto a late 3rd period lead.
The Wolves fell behind early as Sam Harding scored less than 3 minutes into the game for the Generals. The Wolves responded, taking advantage of a 5-on-3 powerplay opportunity as DMITRY SOKOLOV scored a one-timer to tie the game back up at 1. KYLE CAPOBIANCO and ALAN LYSZCZARCZYK added the assists on the powerplay marker. Late in the period, Michael Dal Colle put the Generals back on top heading into the room. After one, shots were 15-9 for the Generals.
The Wolves were able to fight back and tie the game up in the 2nd period. PATRICK MURPHY scored for the Wolves under two minutes into the period. CAPOBIANCO and JENYS added the helpers. The lead was short-lived however as the Generals' answered back to re-gain the one-goal lead. The Wolves continued to battle as DANNY DESROCHERS buried the feed from BRADY PATAKI to tie the game at 3 after 40 minutes. JENYS added his second assist of the game. Shots were 29-22 for Oshawa at the end of two.
The Wolves took their first lead of the night when PAVEL JENYS scored a beautiful goal on a breakaway, with Captain DESROCHERS picking up the assist. Despite their best efforts, the Wolves could not close it out, as the Generals tied the game with less than 5 minutes left in regulation. After three periods, the Generals and the Wolves were headed to 3-on-3 overtime.
In overtime, the Generals pulled away with the victory. Anthony Cirelli scored the game-winner. Final shots were 49-30 in favour of the Generals.
The Wolves return to action Sunday, November 1st when they host the Ottawa 67's. Game time is 2:00pm. Tickets are available at the Sudbury Community Arena Box Office or by visiting greatersudbury.ca/tickets. The Arena Box Office will open at 11am on Sunday.
