
Sting Fall 6-2 in Niagara

Niagara Falls, ON - The Sarnia Sting travelled to Niagara Falls Friday night for a tilt with the Niagara Ice Dogs. A tough and gritty game along with facing a hot goaltender left the Sting with the loss by a score of 6-2.
It was a night of penalty trouble for the Sting recording a game total of 11 penalties where the Ice Dogs capitalized scoring 2 goals on the powerplay. The game was gritty, and emotions were shown throughout the game which lead to both teams totaling 20 penalties. The Sting showed signs of struggle going 0-9 in the game on the powerplay.
The game was a fast paced back and forth game with teams exchanging scoring chances at either ends of the ice. Sarnia goals were scored by Nikita Korostelev and Daniel Nikandrov. Korostelev totaled 2 points in the loss increasing his team lead in points.
The Sting ran into a hot goaltender tonight where they could not seem to catch a break. Brent Moran made 22 saves on 24 shots making acrobatic saves throughout to perserve the Ice Dogs lead throughout the game.
Justin Fazio had a strong game making the big saves on the penalty kill and seemed to recover strong after a tough first period finishing the game with 24 saves on 30 shots.
With the loss, the Sting go to 1-1 on the 4 game road trip. The Stng will travel to Erie Saturday night to take on the Erie Otters. The road trip will wrap up November 4th when the Sting take on the Owen Sound Attack.
