FORT WAYNE, IN---Lightning and thunderstorms forced a suspension of Friday night's Midwest League game featuring the Fort Wayne Wizards and the Dayton Dragons at Memorial Stadium.

Play was stopped at 7:49 p.m., with the Wizards batting in the bottom of the third inning, and leading by a score of 2-1.

The Fort Wayne runs came in the bottom of the first inning against Dayton starting pitcher Matt Klinker.

Luis Durango walked on a 3-2 pitch, and then came all the way around to score from first base on a double by Robert Perry.

Perry advanced to third base on a successful sacrifice bunt by Lance Zawadzki, and came in to score the second run of the inning, when Felix Carrasco grounded out to first base.

The Dragons got their run in the top of the second inning, when Logan Parker belted an 0-2 pitch from Wizard starter Wynn Pelzer over the 16-foot high wall in left field for his fourth home run of the season.

It was the only hit (and base runner) allowed by Pelzer in three innings of work.

When play is resumed on Saturday afternoon (at 5:00 PM), Fort Wayne will have Zawadzki on at first base and Perry on at second base (both reaching base on opposite field singles) with two outs.

Carrasco will be at the plate, with a count of no balls and two strikes.

Left hand pitcher Jeremy Horst (1-1, 4.13) will replace Klinker on the mound for Dayton.

When the Dragons come to bat in the top of the fourth inning, they will face Wizard relief pitcher Geoff Vandel (2-1, 5.50).

The game will be played to its nine-inning conclusion, and then be followed (after a break) by a second game of seven innings in length.

The second game starting pitchers will be right-handers Jeremy Hefner (2-3, 3.99) of Fort Wayne and Luis Montano (6-2, 3.27) of Dayton. The games can be heard on both the radio (ESPN Radio 1380) and the Internet (www.fortwaynewizards.com), beginning with the Hupe Insurance Services Pre-Game Show at 4:40 p.m. (EDT).
