River Bandits Power Past Bees

Davenport, IA (May 30, 2008) - The Burlington Bees allowed five homeruns Friday night as Quad Cities was victorious over the Bees 7-4. The Bees did have eight hits in the game but it was not enough for a win.

The River Bandits got ahead early by scoring a run in bottom of the first inning against Bees starting pitcher Danny Duffy. The Bees were able to tie it up in the top of the second via an Antonio Jimenez single that scored Clint Robinson from third base. The River Bandits again took the lead in the third inning by scoring one run to take a 2-1 lead.

The Bees took their first lead of the ballgame in the fourth inning. With one out, Robinson reached base on an error and moved to second on a Kyle Martin single. Robinson and Martin then both scored when Tucker reached second base on an error.

The River Bandits tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth inning and went on to score three unanswered runs. The Bees did score one run the eighth inning as Tucker hit a sacrifice fly to score Jason Taylor and get within one run but the River Bandits hit two solo homeruns in the bottom of the eighth to secure their 7-4 victory.

Duffy pitched four innings for the Bees allowing three runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and three walks. Juan Abreu took the loss pitching three innings allowing two runs on three hits. Adrian Ortiz and Jimenez each had two hits in the contest.

The Bees and River Bandits conclude the series Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. The Bees return to Community Field on Sunday June 1st to begin a four-game series with Clinton.
