Wisconsin Herd Partners with BMO to Promote a Healthy Lifestyle for Children

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, is partnering with BMO to host the fifth annual School Day during the Herd's January 18 game with tip-off set for 11:30 a.m. CST. School Day is centered around promoting a healthy lifestyle and incorporates educational components from each of the first four annual school day games. The halftime performance will feature Doctor Dyslexia Dude who encourages students to achieve greatness no matter their situation.
More than 3,500 students from schools across Wisconsin will be at the game, which will set a new Herd attendance record. Each student will be provided a co-branded Herd and BMO lunchbox filled with food from Cousins Subs (sub, cookie, chips), and a Herd educational booklet on how to live a healthy life both physically and mentally. The Herd educational booklet has activities that encourage kids to eat healthy, exercise, take care of their mental health and includes pages from Doctor Dyslexia Dude's graphic novel.
NAMI Fond du Lac will be the featured Nonprofit of the Night presented by Bayland Buildings, Inc., and is a local affiliate of the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI). NAMI's mission is to advocate, educate and support all people affected by mental illness.
During the game, there will be a teacher free-throw contest and dance-off, student recognition for academic achievements and lots of Herd giveaways. Winning teachers will receive a cash donation from BMO to benefit their school.
Doctor Dyslexia Dude is a compelling story of an African-American boy who is also a colorful superhero with dyslexia. The caped character is autobiographically based on the painful, early life experiences of Dr. Shawn Anthony Robinson. Robinson and his co-author, Dr. Inshirah Robinson, are parents who say their goal is to empower students in Special Education to stay encouraged and know they too can achieve greatness! Overall, Doctor Dyslexia Dude is an exciting, colorful, often humorous and relevant source of hope and inspiration for kids, parents, and teachers.
